Another Look at the Einstein-Maxwell Equations
An electric monopole solution to the equations of Maxwell and Einstein’s general relativity is displayed. It differs from the usual one in that all components of the metric vanish at large spatial distances from the charge rather than approaching the Minkowski metric. This enables us to find an approximate solution to that for many charges.
متن کاملEinstein ’ s Hidden Postulate
The present Note calls attention to an undeclared assumption in Einstein’s derivation of the Lorentz transformation (LT). In subsequent discussions of the special theory of relativity (SR), the practice has been to claim that the relativity principle and the postulate of the constancy of light in free space are the only two assumptions required for a unique specification of the desired kinemati...
متن کاملOn the T 3-Gowdy Symmetric Einstein-Maxwell Equations
Recently, progress has been made in the analysis of the expanding direction of Gowdy spacetimes. The purpose of the present paper is to point out that some of the techniques used in the analysis can be applied to other problems. The essential equations in the case of the Gowdy spacetimes can be considered as a special case of a wider class of variational problems. Here we are interested in the ...
متن کاملParticle-Like Solutions of the Einstein-Dirac-Maxwell Equations
We consider the coupled Einstein-Dirac-Maxwell equations for a static, spherically symmetric system of two fermions in a singlet spinor state. Soliton-like solutions are constructed numerically. The stability and the properties of the ground state solutions are discussed for different values of the electromagnetic coupling constant. We find solutions even when the electromagnetic coupling is so...
متن کاملOn First Order Generalized Maxwell Equations
The generalized Maxwell equations including an additional scalar field are considered in the first order formalism. The gauge invariance of the Lagrangian and equations is broken resulting the appearance of a scalar field. We find the canonical and symmetric energy momentum tensors. It is shown that the trace of the symmetric energymomentum tensor is not equal to zero in the theory considered. ...
